Adhesive tape manufacturer tesa SE has received the dena Energy Efficiency Award for its pioneering project “Climate-neutral Production tesa Hamburg Plant.” The initiative combines green hydrogen, electrified process steam with heat storage, and AI-based energy management, cutting CO₂ emissions by 90% and primary energy use by 30% by 2027.

“This award recognizes our commitment to sustainable innovation and shows that climate-neutral production is possible in the chemical industry,” said Dr. Ingrid Sebald, CTO of tesa SE.

At the same time, tesa is expanding its Offenburg plant, home of tesafilm, to meet rising demand in the automotive and electronics sectors. The site, equipped with 13,000 photovoltaic modules generating 25% of its energy needs, will begin new production in 2027.

Both projects support tesa’s “we do” sustainability strategy, aiming for climate-neutral production by 2030 with €300 million in global green investments.
