Packaging Personified has upgraded their mounting department with help from AV Flexologic

In an effort to promote quality and growth Packaging Personified began looking into upgrading our mounting equipment in 2018. The mounter we continued to hear the most about in the industry was the SAMM from AV Flexologic.
All the feedback we were receiving was the same. Better quality and increased productivity.
Due to AV Flexologic’s close relationships with their existing customers, we had the opportunity to witness this first hand. We had visitations to three existing customers of AV Flexologic. We were blown away by the quality and speed of the mounting process. Once viewing the equipment in action it was easy to prove the impact the equipment would have to our operation.
Given the performance and lack of risk Packaging Personified elected to purchase not just 1 SAMM but two machines. Since the installation of the mounter both facilities have experienced the same:
The SAMM is much more efficient. Pretty much doubled the amount of plates mounted in a day. The new equipment allows us to repurpose time and energy towards other tasks in the pressroom.
The ease of operation on the SAMM gave us improved flexibility in staffing. It allowed us to cross train multiple individuals to help cover for mounting needs on off shifts.
Since the induction of the SAMM at Packaging Personified we have experienced a drastic improvement to quality. Remounts due to registration and crooked plates have pretty much been eliminated. The SAMM is much more accurate than a conventional mounter. Furthermore, the quality is met consistently mount after mount.
Given the SAMM is very intuitive and automated it is much easier for our employees to use than a traditional mounter. The mounter is more dependent on the equipment for the body of the process. After the initial set up the SAMM pretty much takes it from there. The SAMM aligns the plate, applies the plate to the sticky back, and lastly it QC’s and confirms the accuracy of the mount.
In the event the plate was not mounted straight it would be flagged and the plate would be remounted before leaving the mounting department. This saves us press time, material, and money by not throwing the job in press to identify the issue. “

The continuous growth we are experiencing brings us to new, higher levels. Thanks to our new partner, Packaging Personified, we just reached another milestone in our journey to innovate the flexographic industry. They recently bought our 500th automatic mounter, a SAMM 1700 2.0
The SAMM 1700 is very intuitive. Their employees also find it significantly easier to use compared to a traditional mounter. This ease of operation allows them to improve flexibility in staffing, allowing for the cross training of multiple individuals to cover the mounting needs off shifts, and a reduction in overall training time.

They immediately decided to buy not one, but two machines for both their locations: Carol Stream, Illinois and Sparta, Michigan.
Since the installation of the mounter, both facilities have experienced an increase in productivity. They went from 20 to 30 plates per shift, to 50 to 60 plates per shift with the SAMM.
