Mundet celebrates 95th anniversary as gravure-printing industry leader
September 12, 2024TN-based Mundet, Inc., will celebrate its 95th anniversary this year at a time of great momentum and historic reflection for the gravure-printing industry leader. The milestone finds Mundet taking its creative approach into varied product markets while staying at the forefront of new technology.
“On this momentous occasion of Mundet’s 95th anniversary, I am deeply honored to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of our dedicated employees,” says Johnny Miller, gm-Mundet Tennessee. “Their unwavering loyalty and passion have propelled us through nearly a century of success. With an exemplary safety record and a steadfast commitment to exceeding our customer expectations, we stand ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the future with confidence and determination.”
Founded in 1929 as the International Playing Card and Label Co., Mundet has grown to two industrial print facilities located in Surgoinsville, TN, and Colonial Heights, VA. In 2016, the company joined the Austria-based delfortgroup giving it a global reach.
Mundet’s history is one of innovation and its gravure printing is a reliable, high-quality method where graphic excellence and production volume are paramount. The company was most recently recognized at the 2022 Gravure AIMCAL Alliance (GAA) Golden Cylinder Awards, where it took top honors in the Packaging and Label (Paper) category and Best of Show for its work on Bush’s Best Flavor Fusions Baked Beans label (above right). The unique metallic-ink technology combined with photographic imagery and a high-gloss finish won the judges over with a unanimous decision.
Mundet’s growth has resulted in a capital project to increase efficiency and productivity. In January 2024, the company installed a new POLAR automated cutting machine for its cut-and-stack label business with additional updates coming within both plants.
