Mondi Officially Commissions New Paper Machine in Štětí

Mondi has officially inaugurated a new state-of-the-art paper machine at its Štětí mill, significantly expanding the company’s capacity in kraft paper production. The machine, which began operating in December 2024, is designed to meet rising global demand for paper-based packaging driven by e-commerce growth and sustainability-focused materials.

With an annual capacity of 210,000 tonnes, the machine produces a wide range of strong and highly porous kraft papers used in construction, industrial applications, and eCommerce packaging. The investment strengthens Mondi’s ability to support customers transitioning to renewable and recyclable packaging solutions.

The new machine forms part of a €400 million investment program aimed at modernizing production processes, optimizing Mondi’s kraft paper portfolio, and enhancing supply reliability—including specialty papers with functional barriers.

More than 130 guests attended the February inauguration event, which highlighted long-term partnerships, circularity, and sustainable growth. Mondi leaders and project teams noted that the machine was completed on schedule and within budget despite challenging conditions. The program also included a panel discussion on market trends and sustainability, followed by guided tours and industry networking.
