German Environment Minister wants to ban plastic bags

Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze (50, SPD) wants to ban the bags. Schulze to german media: “My ministry is currently working on the legal regulation for a plastic bag ban. The voluntary agreement with the trade to reduce the bags was very successful. Since 2016, consumption has dropped significantly. We can now secure that with the ban.”
