Fox Packaging Launches Flexible Packs with Up to 30% PCR Content

Fox Packaging has introduced new flexible packaging options containing up to 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, expanding its focus on circular, sustainable solutions for the fresh produce sector.

The PCR structures—available across select Poly, Combo, and Stand-Up Pouch formats—offer opaque or clear films in 1–10 lb sizes. Popular Fox Poly and Fresh Mesh Combo bags for potatoes, citrus, and other produce can now include PCR in the base film, though the Signature Fresh Mesh material is not yet PCR-enabled.

Sustainability Manager Iliana Csanyi said the addition helps brands make “measurable movement toward circularity,” supported by Fox’s technical guidance on appearance, barrier needs, and performance. All PCR films undergo testing to ensure strength, seal integrity, and print quality comparable to virgin materials.

Vice President Aaron Fox noted that incorporating PCR can mean higher costs—typically about 15% more—and longer lead times due to tighter supply. Slight visual differences, such as reduced clarity, can also occur, but Fox works with customers to balance sustainability requirements with product presentation.
