Dr. Karen Xiao Honored with “Women Breaking the Mold” Award

Macro Engineering’s Vice President of Technology, Dr. Karen Xiao, has been named to the 2025 Women Breaking the Mold list by Plastics News. Since joining Macro in 2020, Xiao has led advancements in multi-bubble barrier and non-barrier film extrusion technology, as well as custom winding systems.

With 32 patents and recognition as a Fellow of the Society of Plastics Engineers, Xiao is celebrated for her industry-changing innovations, including the world’s first 11-layer blown film die. Her work continues to shape sustainable packaging solutions worldwide.
