Thailand’s Flexible Packaging Sector Grows with New Biodegradable and High-Barrier Solutions
November 27, 2025Thailand’s flexible packaging industry is expanding on the back of sustainability investments, high-barrier materials, and smart manufacturing technologies. A new market study from DataM Intelligence forecasts 3.04% CAGR through 2031, driven by rising demand in food, personal care, and healthcare segments.
In August 2025, SCG Packaging opened a biodegradable flexible packaging line at its Rayong site, targeting over 20,000 tons of eco-friendly output per year. A month earlier, Thai Wacoal teamed up with Amcor to develop premium high-barrier films for personal care. Meanwhile, Sealed Air Thailand launched a smart, automated facility in Chonburi in June 2025, cutting energy use by 15% while boosting supply speed for food and beverage customers.
Expansion is also occurring through acquisitions. SCG Packaging completed the full takeover of Vietnam’s Duy Tan Plastic in June 2025, following its 2024 purchase of VEM-Thailand, strengthening its footprint in rigid, medical, and high-performance packaging across ASEAN.
Key players in the Thai flexible packaging market include Amcor, InnoPack, Huhtamaki, Prepack Thailand, Pongsilp Plastic, Siam Flexible Industries, Sealed Air, Toppan, and Tetra Pak.
Industry growth is supported by rising demand for pouches, bags, roll stock, blister packs, and eco-focused materials such as paper and biodegradable composites—especially across food, healthcare, and personal-care applications.
