BASF Sends Firefighters After Explosion at Chemicals Plant
July 29, 2024German chemicals company BASF sent firefighters to its Ludwigshafen plant in southern Germany after an explosion caused a fire, the company said on Monday.
A city official said at a press conference that at least two people have died, six are injured, and two are missing after the explosion at BASF’s headquarters.
BASF said the cause of the explosion, which caused a large column of smoke visible from outside the plant, is being investigated.
The company is also checking the environmental impact inside and outside the plant.
Shares in BASF were trading 2.4% lower after the announcement.
