YES TO PLASTIC

Bischof + Klein wants to continue growing sustainably. This is explained by the executive board of the Lengerich-based packaging and film specialist in its eighth sustainability report, which has now been published in accordance with the internationally recognised guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The report also contains the EMAS III environmental statement (Eco Management and Audit Scheme).

With 2,700 employees at five locations in Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Poland, the B+K-GROUP generated sales of approx. 576 million euros in 2017. 86 percent of these were achieved in the European Union. At present, focus is above all being placed on the markets in Central and Eastern Europe for further sales growth.

The company intends to extend its position as one of Europe’s leading full-service suppliers of flexible plastic packaging and technical films with aggressive investments, continued progress in material and energy efficiency as well as the specific qualification of specialist and managerial staff. CEO Dr. Tobias Lührig: “On the whole, we have to establish the production-level prerequisites that will also enable us to grow at a faster pace than the market in the future. To achieve our growth targets, we are working towards continually increasing our profitability and strengthening our financial basis.”

Bischof + Klein stands by plastic as a material, and again successfully accompanied customers during their switch from paper to plastic sacks last year. In the construction material and foodstuff industries with their finely powdered and also moisture-sensitive products, film packaging with special ventilation offers significantly more comfort and safety.

B+K’s successful products include stand up pouches. Their volume ranges from 50 millilitres to 15 litres. These pouches are increasingly being produced in recyclable form according to the new EU packaging directives. Dr. Tobias Lührig: “With our flexible packaging, we are making an important contribution to protecting resources.”
