With bioplastics and recyclates to even more circular economy

At Fachpack 2021, which will take place in Nuremberg from September 28 to 30, FKuR will be presenting its products and services at Stand 7-416 in Hall 7 under the motto “We shape the circular economy” as a multi-talented partner in the field of sustainability. The focus will be on innovative, resource-saving packaging plastics with a reduced ecological footprint that meet the requirements of the modern circular economy and which are suitable for both mechanical and organic recycling. Among the innovations highlighted at the fair are material alternatives based on renewable raw materials, as well as recyclates and bio-recyclate hybrids.

New compounds on the basis of PCR and PIR

Under the brand name Macolen® R, FKuR has developed a recyclate portfolio suitable for extrusion and injection molding. This includes high-quality and customized compounds based on PCR (post-consumer recyclate) or PIR (post-industrial recyclate), depending on the application. Common to all product grades are low odor and consistently high quality while meeting demanding requirements in terms of technical properties. Thanks to the individually adjustable recycled content, FKuR can meet the specific requirements of different extrusion and injection molding applications with Macolen® R.

Hybrid compound combines recycled materials with renewable raw materials

Terralene® rPP is a family of new polypropylene (PP)-based hybrid compounds that combine the ecological advantages of using recycled and bio-based raw materials with 100% recyclability. Depending on the product grade, the recyclate content ranges from 30% to 50%. The biobased content can reach up to 33%. The flexibility offered by this formulation allows the technical properties to be specifically adapted to the application, set at a constant level and adjusted for optimum process performance. Both injection molding and extrusion grades are thus available. In addition to technical parts, typical applications for Terralene® rPP, which is designed as a drop-in product, include rigid packaging and non-food films.

Niklas Voß, Associate Sales Director at FKuR, comments: “Sustainable packaging solutions and circularity are the core topics of our Fachpack presence this year. With the presentation of our broadened bioplastics and recyclates portfolio, we now offer our customers a unique range of product solutions to address these issues. For packaging manufacturers, we offer both domestically and industrially compostable as well as fully or partially biobased plastics and recyclate-based grades. This puts us in a position to offer solutions for all regulatory requirements across Europe.”
