TÜV Süd, one of the most renowned independent testing laboratories in Germany, has examined the VAREX II and OPTIMEX blown film lines from W&H for their energy efficiency. The result: W&H offers the best available technology in terms of energy efficiency on the market. Only W&H systems are allowed to carry the “Energy and Media Efficiency” certificate from TÜV Süd. Our customers benefit from this in two ways: firstly through lower energy consumption and lower costs. Secondly, the certificate can be presented to the relevant national authorities as proof of energy efficiency.

TÜV SÜD as an independent auditor examined both the development and design processes as well as the components used in the blown film lines, such as motors, heaters and fans. The energy performance indicators were compared with other systems on the market. The measurement accuracy of the data was checked in independently monitored measurements. Electrical energy, compressed air, cooling energy for process and machine cooling were included in the energy balance of the system. Following the comprehensive investigation, TÜV certifies that W&H blown film lines have the highest energy efficiency on the market.

At W&H, all lines are already energy-optimized in the standard configuration: From machine design to construction to manufacture. The TÜV examined VAREX II systems with 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 layers and OPTIMEX systems with 3 and 5 layers. The blown film lines by W&H were certified  for the first time in 2015. In a renewed audit this year, TÜV SÜD confirmed that W&H’s blown film lines have been continuously further developed and thus still offer the best available technology for energy efficiency. W&H printing presses have also been certified for their energy consumption.
