Ultimate Packaging invests in 4th BOBST 20SIX CS CI Flexo Press
August 7, 2018Ultimate Packaging, the UK’s leading flexible packaging manufacturer based in Grimsby, has commissioned an additional new BOBST 20SIX CS CI flexo press which was installed during June 2018.
The press features 8-colour with a downstream unit for film coating. It has a web width of 1300 mm and a speed of 500 m/min in addition to numerous special features dedicated to meet Ultimate Packaging’s stringent requirements in terms of high quality output and press efficient operation.
Ultimate Packaging has grown its flexo printing operations with BOBST for a number of years and it currently operates four 20SIX flexo presses.
“We bought our first 20SIX in 2012 after it was presented at drupa that same year to boost our short run capability” commented Jon McCarthy, Operations Director, Ultimate Packaging “With unique features like the smartGPSTM offline register and pressure setting we achieved major improvements in start-up waste and turnaround time and could serve our customers better with smaller orders than before”.
Ultimate Packaging was so impressed with its first BOBST 20SIX press’ performance that three more 20SIX CS have followed in the ensuing five years, making them one of the most premium print halls in the UK.
Like its predecessors, the new 20SIX is a top of the series CS configuration model, which identifies a full option press that delivers speed and consistency across a huge variety of substrates and types of application. With the numerous performance enhancing features the 20SIX is equipped with, Ultimate Packaging can now fill the gap between short and long print runs.
The press performance in terms of consistent operation has also proved instrumental for achieving best result with Ultimate Packaging implementation of its Flexeye reduced color gamut printing system.
