SIG to acquire bag-in-box, spouted-pouch converting giant Scholle IPN

Northlake, IL-based Scholle IPN, a leading global supplier of flexible-packaging solutions, says it has agreed to be acquired by SIG, a world-leading aseptic-carton packaging converting company. The transaction is expected to close before the end of Q3 2022.

SIG, founded in 1853 and headquartered in Neuhausen, Switzerland, is a systems and solutions provider for aseptic-carton packaging. They work in part­nership with their customers to bring food and beverage products to consumers around the world in a safe, sustainable, and affordable way. SIG’s technology and innovation enable it to provide their customers with end-to-end solutions for differentiated prod­ucts, smarter factories and connected packs, all to address the ever-changing needs of consum­ers. Sustainability is integral to SIG as they use their “Way Beyond Good” approach to create a net-positive food-packaging system. 

Once combined, the new company will employ nearly 8,000 people in 69 sales and manufacturing sites across the globe. Their shared technology and R&D capabilities in renewable paper substrates, film extrusion, injection molding, and filling equipment are backed by an Industry 4.0 manufacturing mindset and a drive to become the leading sustainable packaging partner on Earth.
