In 2019, the family-owned packaging group expanded their product portfolio with labels when they acquired Emballagegruppen. Now, this part of the business is additionally strengthened as Schur has acquired Interket’s business in Denmark.

Originally founded in 1959 under the name Klimax-Etikettering A/S, the Danish subsidiary of Interket Group – Interket Denmark – has grown  to become one of the big players in the Danish market for labels. From March 1st, Interket Denmark will become part of Schur’s label business – Schur Labels. With the acquisition, Schur emphasizes their strong focus on making labels one of their core competences.

“We have learned that the production of labels is a great match to our other business activities, and we see a huge potential in this market. Furthermore, it has generated important synergies to our customers that we also offer these products as part of our product portfolio. Thus, in the beginning of 2021, we initiated an expansion and modernization in Horsens  for Schur Labels to move from their old facilities in Vejle. We are building a state-of-the-art production of labels and the goal is to unite Interket Denmark and Schur Labels  at this address during 2021, when the new factory is ready”, Hans Schur, CEO of Schur International, explains.

With this merger, Schur Labels will become one of the biggest players in the Danish labels market. Another benefit to this acquisition, is the fact that the two businesses are very similar. Hans Schur elaborates:

“It is always a process when consolidating two businesses – many things must come together. With Interket Denmark, we have been given a unique opportunity as the company is very comparable to Schur Labels in many areas. Both Schur Labels and Interket Denmark are working on making their processes more digital whilst we also see a great match in values, customer approach, and quality standard. We are experiencing a market in constant development and change in relation to the expectations to us as a supplier. Therefore, it is a strong reinforcement to have Interket Denmark becoming a part of Schur Labels”.

At Interket Denmark, they also see a huge potential in the acquisition. Carl Parkander, CEO, comments:

“We are happy to sell to a player like Schur, who is so well-established in the Danish market. With the divestment of Interket Denmark, we get the chance to focus on our other more strategically important markets which we operate in. At the same time, we know that our Danish business unit continues in a competitive setup – and still with a solid base in Horsens which is amazing”.

Interket Denmark will change their name to Schur Labels per March 1st, but the company will stay in its current buildings until the new facilities in Horsens are ready.
