SAUERESSIG expands cLynx product family

Already a few months ago, SAUERESSIG introduced the specially developed cLynx technologies for comprehensive inspection of gravure cylinders. Now the product family has been extended by another module cLynx.prepress ensures the quality of the print data even before the order is placed on the cylinder.

“Tobacco packaging, in particular, is subject to legal requirements and must meet high standards,” explains Ingo Beutler, Global Manager Reproduction at SAUERESSIG. “For this particular market, we have been searching intensively for inspection tools that assist us in the final verification of print data during complex pre-press processes. However, the tools available on the market did not meet the requirements we have for intensive data testing. “Based on the existing expertise and extensive testing algorithms already applied in the cLynx applications, the experts have succeeded in developing a corresponding module cLynx.prepress compares electronic customer data with the final repro file in an automated verification process. “Thus, cLynx.prepress is not exclusively for internal process optimization. With this test software, we are able to assure our customers the perfect quality of the print data even before they are placed on the cylinder “, says Ingo Beutler. At the Vreden site, the testing software is already fully integrated into production. In the coming months, it will also be used at other international SAUERESSIG locations.

With cLynx.prepress, SAUERESSIG has succeeded in establishing a complete closed-loop system for the production of intaglio printing plates in production. The applications of the cLynx product family are an important part of quality assurance and offer great potential for further developments in this complex area.
