The Palm group is expanding. The German integrated company is taking over a corrugated packaging plant with a capacity of 350,000 m² per day.

The German Palm group is planning to take over the corrugated packaging plant of REKA Wellpappenwerke in Kitzingen, Germany. REKA had already sold its second location in Lohhof near Munich to the Thimm Group in 2014. The current transaction is still subject to approval by the Federal Cartel Office.

The Kitzingen plant produces corrugated board boxes. According to REKA, the site can produce around 350,000 m² of corrugated board per day. It employs 180 people.

REKA has been owned by the Schröder family since its foundation in 1953. After integration into the Palm group, the Kitzingen plant will remain under the management of Gudrun Schröder.

REKA will benefit from the integration into an integrated company, said Palm, noting that the company’s raw material supply will be secured.

The Palm Group operates 5 paper mills with 9 paper machines for the production of newsprint and corrugated case material, which have a production capacity of 2.2 million t. Corrugated board products are manufactured and processed at 26 plants. Palm generated sales of €1.6bn in 2018 with 4,000 employees.
