MORCHEM – START UP OF NEW PLANT
May 25, 2020The new factory is focused on high volume polyurethane and polyester batches incorporating highest process and control automation in line with industry 4.0.
Founded in 1985 in Las Franquesas (Barcelona-Spain), MORCHEM is a family company whose origins lie in the Polyurethane Technology applied to adhesives and coatings addressed to several markets, such as Flexible Packaging, Textile and Flat Lamination, TPU’s for Printing Inks, and other Technical Applications.
Morchem exports more than 80% of the production worldwide and to give the best technical and logistic support to our customers we have established since 2010 affiliate companies in Germany, USA, UAE, China and India, where we produce locally.
To support our strategic plan, we decided to build a new plant in Guadalajara because of its fast international direct access through Madrid Airport 30 minutes away and its logistic location having fast track by train to the Atlantic and Mediterranean harbours of Spain.
In record time, MORCHEM has set up this new production plant, only 16 months after the laying of the foundation stone in November 2018 and starting production end of April 2020. This second plant in Spain is one of the most advanced and automatized as well as sustainable polyurethane and polyester plants in the world. “This was a decision to be taken to support our increasing internationalisation and to assure our business continuity plan”, explains Helmut Schaeidt, CEO of Morchem.
The company has made a powerful economic investment of more than 25 million Euros to respond to its strategy of growth and innovation. The new MORCHEM plant is located on a 30,000 sqm plot and is the most innovative Polyurethane and Polyester production plant in Europe, including state-of-the-art installations and facilities such as:

The factory is very innovative and has been designed and built applying the most advanced production and control technology know how, with fully automated facilities, prioritizing process and personnel safety, environmental protection, product quality and process efficiency, such as reduced energy and water consumption as well as waste reduction during the production process.
