Production agency Linked2Brands has been involved in project HolyGrail 2.0 since its launch in September 2020. The HolyGrail initiative aims to investigate if and how digital watermarking technology might contribute to higher-quality recycling of packaging in the EU. The strategic collaboration as Enhancing Partner of Digimarc now enables Linked2Brands to add significant value. Ensuring the circular economy of packaging runs efficiently largely depends on optimal sorting of consumer waste. This requires accurate identification of packaging – fewer components means better sorting, which leads to higher-quality recycling. The benefits of digital watermarking are evident, and it is considered the most promising technology for the identification of packaging. Thanks to its strategic partnership with Digimarc, the leading provider of digital barcode solutions, Linked2Brands Germany as a licensed Enhancing Partner is now able to provide support for industrial HolyGrail testing, due to commence later this year in Germany and France. “The industry is aware how significant the circular economy of packaging is for the future; as a long-standing supply chain partner, we would like to actively participate in and contribute to this project. The co-operation with Digimarc enables us to expand our expertise and raise our participation in project HolyGrail 2.0 to the next strategic level by offering enhancement services. At the same time, we can provide our customers access to Digimarc’s unique product portfolio – a vital USP for the implementation of their packaging projects – and cement our leadership role as prepress partner,” explains Stefan Hilss, Managing Director at Linked2Brands.
