Members of AICC, The Independent Packaging Association, can now register for two back-to-back seminars:  Production Leadership: Next Level Supervision of People & Process and Production Measurement: Benchmarking & Buy-in, to be held April 21-22 and April 23-24 at StandFast Group in Carol Stream, IL.

Production Leadership: Next Level Supervision of People & Process teaches managers in independent corrugated, folding carton, and rigid box plants to address the constant changes in the marketplace and workforce. This course provides any manager in the packaging industry skills and hands-on experience with the tools of leadership and improvement.

The coursework focuses on converting the willing to the willing and capable. Attendees, with the support of Ellis, will strategize about converting the unwilling and capable, like change-resistant long-term employees, back to engaged employees.

Production Measurement: Benchmarking & Buy-in brings attendees into the War Room to practice using tools to increase productivity and reduce employee turnover in a virtual company and on the real host plant floor. Participants work together to find solutions to reach the goal of cutting setup times by 65%. Attendees will also work with the crew of the host plant, StandFast Group, to put their new skills into action.

Both seminars will be led by Scott Ellis, Ed.D, Principal, Working Well LLC. Scott is a leadership and process improvement specialist who serves on AICC’s faculty to assist in building the Packaging School curriculum. Scott has served as a resource for the development of individuals, teams, and organizations as a consultant, teacher, psychotherapist, coach, and general manager in the packaging industry for two decades. His pragmatic approach is focused on making it easy to do the right things right.

While each of these seminars can stand alone, AICC is offering these two courses together to allow attendees to expand their knowledge quickly and at less expense. Many leaders have attended Production Leadership alone and then invited team members to attend Production Measurement with them, to create an immediate impact when they return to their plants. These seminars will grow participants as leaders and then go more in-depth into the tools and practices needed to begin measuring machine production, creating benchmarks, and tracking improvements and creating production success as well as financial success.
