In Memoriam Dr Rüdiger Baunemann

It is with great sadness that PlasticsEurope needs to inform that Dr Rüdiger Baunemann, Director General of PlasticsEurope Deutschland e.V. passed away unexpectedly on 17 April 2020.

Dr Baunemann headed PlasticsEurope Deutschland e. V. since 2011 and was, as such, responsible for both the German office and Central Region of PlasticsEurope. In this role, he was instrumental in developing and supporting the pan-European approach of this association. With his scientific background, he became an eminent expert on different plastics topics, amongst them standardisation, a complex topic, close to his heart.
  With his passing we lose a strong voice and ambassador of plastics, a valued and highly competent leader of his team, to which he was particularly dedicated, as well as a personality that was characterized by authenticity, humanity, openness and respect. It is with great fondness that we will recall his passionate engagement for the plastics industry, which we could all admire at the last K Fair in October 2019. During such events, his fervour became visible, with which he exchanged views with politicians, industry representatives, journalists, NGOs and other stakeholders.
