Idvac Introduce Online Vacuum Web Metallising Training Workshops

In our previous announcement on Vacuum Web Metallising Workshop, we outlined the importance of personnel field training to achieve high production levels. As indicated before, it is important to look closely at the practices of personnel in the critical metallising environments and at ways to train and motivate them to strive for excellence in their own environment and in collaboration with others.  It is also important to train people to use and safely work alongside modern technology to meet customers’ expectations and support sustainable growth.

Continuous Professional training cannot be overstated in the ever increasing competitive markets. The vacuum metallising technology is forever evolving. This creates exciting market opportunities but also comes with competitive challenges.

Professional technical training mainly teaches employees how to handle new equipment or a process. Most of the time, it does not necessarily teach the basic background of vacuum processes or equipment. We have to remember that the equipment operator is a human and not a robot. Therefore, the operator has to understand the basics of the equipment, why they are receiving such training and how they can translate the learning into good operational skill either solely or within a team.

Whilst training can provide knowledge and skills, it also needs the right attitude from the trainee to achieve operational excellence. Thus without motivation we cannot deliver exceptional quality by training only.

From our own experience in running onsite vacuum web metallising training workshops we found so many machine operators felt bored from doing the daily metallising routine work.  However, when we described to them the capability of a standard vacuum web metalliser to produce many different types of added value coatings without major modification and without interrupting the standard daily production they felt highly motivated to learn more. Such motivation will keep the operator or staff eager to learn new skills, solving new problems and meeting new challenges.

It is also known that training workshops are costly and time consuming because it may stop the daily production for a day or couple of days. However, such investment in employees help to motivate them and keep them committed to the company instead of finding better opportunity elsewhere. Furthermore, the employee will have the feeling that the management is trying to provide them with the highest standard of skill and quality.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, many of our customers have paused onsite training workshops. However, with the use of social media and applications such as Zoom, we are able to provide online interactive services and supports.

Our online vacuum web metallising training workshops are aimed at operators and staff with basic knowledge, staff at a professional level and staff with expert level who are capable of resolving production issues. The workshop starts at foundation level with basic knowledge of equipment and processes to raise the knowledge of the first category staff then introduces more advanced knowledge to raise the skills of other categories.
