European packaging company, Coveris, has inaugurated a new ReCover recycling facility in Lincolnshire, UK, aimed at recycling printed polyethylene (PE) films. Situated at Coveris’ PE extrusion and conversion site in Louth, the facility will employ a ‘deinking recycling process’ to remove ink from packaging waste. Post-deinking, the packaging film will be regranulated into ReGen, a high-quality recycled PE resin. The plant is equipped to produce approximately 5,000 tonnes of ReGen pellets per year, aligning with the UK’s Plastic Packaging Tax. In addition to the production unit, the plant includes a laboratory, named the ReCover Lab, to facilitate innovation, quality control, and validation of ReGen recyclate for further usage in Coveris’ recycled content films. This facility marks the second addition to Coveris’ closed-loop recycling business, following the launch of the first ReCover plant in Blaenavon, Wales, UK.
